WHO WE ARE !!
The Gulf of Guinea Risk and Resilience Institute (GoG – RRI), a new initiative based in Ontario, Canada and West Africa, dedicated to strengthening resilience in one of the world’s most climate-vulnerable regions – The Gulf of Guinea.
We exist as a regional applied research and policy institute dedicated to advancing hazard risk mitigation, resilience practice, policy innovation, maritime governance, organizational development, and Climate finance for development.
We are passionate about closing the climate finance gap by designing and scaling innovative financial instruments that directly support adaptation and resilience in frontline regions. We work at the nexus of climate science, policy, and capital markets, helping governments, investors, and communities co-create financing solutions that protect people, economies, and ecosystems.

Our Approach
We combine over 20 years of experience in climate and water systems with a vision for finance as a resilience enabler. Our work integrates scientific risk data, local/indigenous knowledge, and global best practices to unlock capital that is equitable, scalable, and impact-driven.
Why It Matters
The Gulf of Guinea is one of the most climate-vulnerable coastal regions in the world—yet it remains underrepresented in global finance conversations. By amplifying local priorities and piloting bankable resilience instruments, we aim to position the region as a global laboratory for innovative finance solutions.
